That darn conflicker, conficker, ficker, conflict, confickr A, B or C or whatever-you-call-it-now virus featured on 60 Minutes has people freaking out over what may happen on April 1, 2009, the date 60 Minutes said the conflicker worm is set to go back and get its next instructions.

But how to protect ourselves from Conflicker?
The jury is still out on that one.
I've searched around for info about Conflicker -- and I won't click on any sites I don't really know that are writing about it. I trust CNET and PCMag.com -- and PC Mag mainly says to back-up your data before April 1, 2009, and though I believe they link to some kind of removal tool, I refuse to download anything risky.
And what about Conflicker and Windows Vista?
I read that conflicker can "conflict" -- or infect Windows XP machines -- but what about Windows Vista?
I think there's nothing but a whole lot of speculation about the conflicker worm, except of course by those who've studied the code -- but even then, I believe all we know is that we'll know more on April 1, 2009.

I hope it's nothing. I pray it fails to do harm, except to its creators.
My lap top, with Windows XP, is infected with a virus. I believe it is the constrictor virus because I can’t download any virus removal software or update from Windows Update. Does anyone know what to do about this virus? I may take it to a computer expert, but not sure if I would be ripped off and the virus still there.
