It was a cold New Year’s Eve in Chicago.
Howard Hewitt was playing a show — Can I get a Say Amen somebody? “It’s time to say goodbye for now…We’ll have our second time around…But before you go, there something I’d like to say…In Him is where my strength relies…I lift my eyes beyond the skies…” Track #10 on the I Commit to Love CD — and Damon Wayans was scheduled to give his comedy routine there, too.
It ended up being pretty funny…”Verily, verily, I say unto thee,” Damon joked.
But beforehand, my date and I arrived late on the frigid night at the event.
“Let’s go around to the back door,” he suggested.
We did and waited.
Soon a limo pulled up, and out stepped a pretty petite black woman followed by Damon.
“What’s up man?” my date said, and Damon gave him some dap and love.
Me?
I turned around, didn’t face him and was mute.
That’s my Damon Wayans encounter.
