What Would Martin Say? New Book by Clarence B. Jones - Whose heart was pricked when Dr. King preached about ‘Bourgeois Negroes’
What Would Martin Say? is a new book by Clarence B. Jones, the man who sneaked a pen and paper into jail so that Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., could pen his famous “Letter From a Birmingham Jail” — and Jones carried it out and got it published.
When MLK first asked Jones to help him in the black struggle, Jones refused.
They were in Los Angeles, and Dr. King was preaching in an LA church, so he invited Jones to come hear him preach.
Dr. King then preached about ‘bourgeois Negroes‘ (man, wish there was YouTube back in those days!) who needed to help join the struggle for civil rights — and Clarence Jones felt very convicted, and joined MLK in his endeavors.
